Pitocos (pee-toh-kos)

Pitoco is a casual term in Portuguese referencing small. This series of expressive paintings reveal life-size silhouettes of each of her children, connecting the generations presented in this exhibition. Santos' process involved the collaboration of her children in replicating their childhood memories. When they were younger, they used to outline their bodies on paper and mail them to their grandparents as a sign of love. A hug via airmail. These works bring the exhibition full circle by blending memories from different generations into visually expressive images.
